InTexas, no ***le means no bueno(good). It will cost a minimum of $300-$500 depending on rarity and much time and paperwork. It is getting more costly and more aggrevation to register a car in Texas without a ***le; bills of sales means nothing!

Tn is not always easy to register a car. I bought a 58 Morris Minor with a Tn ***le that had not been on the road in over 20 years. I took it to the DMV and they said it was not in the system anymore and the ***le was invalid. I tracked down the former owner and mailed him ***le and he took it in to get a replacement tile. No luck.
Sold the car to my buddy down in Ga. with a bill of sale for a dollar. We had the car inspected by a deputy. We bought a 30 day insurance policy on the car. He registered it in Ga. turned around and sold it back to me for the same dollar and gave me a the Ga. registration. Went back to the DMV in Cleveland, TN to the same clerk and showed her the bill of sale and the Ga. registration .
She typed up the paperwork and handed me a tag and my TN ***le came in the mail 10 days later.
Sounds like a big h***le , but I had already built the car and had over 15 K in it and a years worth of labor. Had to go around the law to obey the law. Lesson learned . The first step in building your car is the paperwork. DSCF0936.JPG

Very sharp Morris Minor! There was a similar one in San Jose (CA) in around 1965, (steel wheels reversed with the 'right rubber', big & littles)
I liked it so much I did suspension on my $100 '58 Simca Arronde...steel 14" hoops on the Simca centers, fat tires, spring work, engine stuff...Car was very 'popular'...
Your MM was worth the paper chase.

AL didn't issue ***les until 1975, now it is on a rolling 35 year age limit, over 35 years old a ***le won't be issued and is no longer needed. If you have a ***le from another state on a vehicle over 35 years old, AL won't even issue you a AL ***le.
They use a simple bill of sale, only wanting to have the buyers and sellers address and the amount paid along with a serial number. I've had to do like southcross2631 a time or two when I'd lost the original bill of sale or didn't have the sellers address or something. I've had printed bill of sales, and handwritten ones as well, even had one on a brown paper sack, they never gave me a problem on any of them. They even had my wife go around the corner and change a bill of sale once, the seller had signed his last name first, they wanted last name last. When she told them we bought the car 200 miles away in the bottom of the state, they told her to go correct it, wink wink, she signed it the way they wanted, they gave her the new paperwork!

OHIO will accept the older regitration cards as a tile, just got a ***le on a 46 chev with a 1962 registration card from minnisota, if that is all they had back then , its all they had, probally best to right to the main county office where they do more complicated stuff

  6. I am not from your part of the country but I have been told that some eastern states use registration and no ***les on older cars, something about they never had ***les in the first place. Granted I saw it on the HAMB so my info could be totally bogus.

Here is good up to date info from the SEMA, all 50 states by state. Book mark it:

    and here is Connecticut:
