Maybe some of us are spending our Money on Cars & Parts insted of Buying our way into The "IN" Crowd while we sit on the computer Wishing we had stuff.

Some of have Multiple cars to maintain & build, And im Talking about a KIA.

I don't dismiss the Alliance being a Good thing, I am sure it does good for those who use it and i just may get one in the future.

I think its a Joke that People here use it to make themselves Feel Superior to those who have not joined.

The original poster who stsrted this really needs to re-think what he has to say seeing as he wasent a Member & as soon as he joined he decided to Sling a Lil Shit to those who are not a member.

You all jump my ass when i Talk Shit about someones Fucked Up Bobber Truck or Goofy Bent up frame saying "They Build What They Like".

But VERY Quick to Judge a person cus the have not Ponyed up $50.00 When Ryan Himself comes here and says its not MANDATORY.

I didn't read each post either, and have to say that having been an Alliance Member for 2 years, I never have felt obligated to re-up. I will soon, just doing the best I can with the economy, the successful cancer deal, and the move into town. I'm not making excuses, just pointing out that the HAMB has never made me feel less than welcome, and it's very much appreciated!
I'm reaching a point where I can start making side money again wiring hotrods and turning wrenches at home - that allows me to re-up AND buy more Model A parts:D

Just another hat in the ring...when you get to the HAMB and are not signed in, the following is at the top of the page.

and as Ryan said, it was always meant to be free and I don't think he ever expects any money out of members.

I have bought and sold a handful of things here, the latest being a truck. I'm glad it worked out. I'm not an alliance member, but have posted a few auctions that generated more money for the HAMB than my alliance membership would. I don't look at the little tag under someones name and immediately decide if that person is a good guy....there are tons of alliance members who are dickheads. And there are plenty of non members who are great people. I have a feeling more people join to get discounts than to "pay back" the hamb anyway. Nothing wrong with that either.

Gee, I became an alliance member because I needed the plaque to cover a hole on my firewall.

I am a member for two reasons:

    1. To support this site that I use for tech advise, intertainment, buy and sell "junk", and to gaze at the pictures

    2. To save some cash on parts from alliance vendors. I also go to the list of vendors for my parts before I look anywhere else. Not just to take advantage of the discounts they offer but to give my bussiness to the companies that help support the HAMB.

As for the 50 dollars. If you buy parts on a regular basis the amount you can save will more than cover the membership fee.
I am very thankful to have this site and be associated with all the members. I have learned alot and it keeps me motivated to build. Compaired to the cost of hot-rodding $50 is chicken feed.

I get what everyone is saying about the Alliance. But it should be up to the individual if they want to join. What I am getting out of this is that if you are not an Alliance member you should not use all that the HAMB offers. Just a way for some to show that they are above some of the others on the site. Just like if you have a 4 door you are not quite as good as those with two door cars, etc......I myself have not joined yet although I plan to one of these days. Although I don't think it should be held against someone if they don't join. Maybe they should have a 100 post rule before you can use the classifieds. Maybe that will stop some people from signing up just to peddle their stuff.

Guys don't really do that, ya think?;)

I have an AM for one reason....to save $$$ on parts from vendors (and looked down upon by being honest about it)...funny thing is, I mostly buy used parts, from Hambers..... Alliance member or not.:D
I've found that some of the most helpful Hambers aren't AM's.......those guys rule. They contribute much more to this place than $50 with their knowledge..

I agree Kerry... If you've got time to drop a bunch of f-bombs, call people pricks, etc... on a post like this, then either you've got too much time on your hands or you are taking all of this wayyy too seriously.

In the end, this is an online car magazine. In the grand scheme of things, it's not really all that important. Certainly not important enough to lose face and composure over. Kind of crazy...

Character is really important to me. A lack of it always bothers me...

Hot rods and customs, not personality and drama.
