Sorry for the spam, but just wanted to let the folks here know I'm selling my '54. I hate to see it go, but I bought a Duece coupe and need the money to get started on it. Check my ad in the cl***ified and lots of pics in my album.
Sorry to hear that you're going to sell it, but sometimes that's just the way it's gotta be. Glad you got it finished before selling it, though. I enjoyed following the build and really like the way it turned out. Hope you find a buyer soon. Just don't forget to tell him to join the HAMB and to come and join us here at the Social Group.
man i hate that. i love the wat i turned out. and it was done right.dont gurss theres no way to keep them both.
Noooo!, lol. Sorry to hear that your going to let it go. Thats one of my favorite 54's for sure. Goodluck w/ the sale, hope it goes to a good home.
Sorry to see you having to sell that beautiful 54 ! I really love that color ! I do understand because I sold a rare 37 Ply. p/u truck and a 460 cobra Jet this summer to pay for a Ford I have always wanted since I was a small boy . I always wanted a shoebox Ford . I bought a 49 to build and ended up with a great deal on a 50 Ford also . So now I have 2 of them ! The only other Fords I would love to own is a 29/30 Ford p/u truck original condition and of course a 32 ford . Never know what the future will hold for those . Good Luck with your new build ! What is your planes on your new build ? Have any pictures yet ? Jim
I owe this group a big thanks for all the kind words and all of the help during the build of the '54. The car did turn out really nice and I do wish I could keep it. However, 2010 was a strange (and wonderful) year. I bought the '54 in the fall of '09 with the intent of making a clean driver out of it. We started on the car in December and kinda got carried away. By April we ended up with the car as you see it now. In late June, I ended up stumbling onto, and buying an original, all steel, '34 Ford 5-window. Great story, here is the link: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=492092. Wow, life can't get much better, right? I've got the '34 and the '54. Many people would love to have either one of them and I am blessed enough to have both. Then in late December things get interesting. I see stumble on an ad posted for '32 Ford 5-window that was a hot rod since the late 50's. The price is way below what consider market value, so I jump on it instantly. While arranging shipping and waiting to get the car home, I am contacted by a fellow HAMBer that knows the car and knew the owner before he p***ed away. We have emailed and chatted on the phone several times and I have been turned on to a ton of history about the car. I have even been in contact with the person who worked on the car quite a bit in the last 20 years. We are also tracking down the original builder and I hopefully will be talking to him soon. Thread here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=547584. Lots of pics in my profile album. So, now something has got to go and it won't be the '34 or the duece. I hope this post doesn't come off as bragging, but as encouragment to stay at it. Two years ago my business was struggling and I was hoping to be able to keep an old car and not have to sell everything to stay afloat. Now I sit here, still in disbelief, that I have two cars I never dreamed I would be able to afford. Seriously, they were never even on my radar screen as being obtainable. I am not a rich man, I have just been blessed with incredible luck and have been fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. You could be next!!! Thanks again to this group and to the entire HAMB community. Still waiting for someone to pinch me, Dave
I just posted on your coupe page, Dave. I was in Maine until '72 - '73 and was one of the founders and organizers of the state's only club at that time, Down East Street Rod Organization. Your coupe was not active in the club at that time. The scanned photos you posted were from much later...probably the late '70s or early '80s. Maine lagged behind the nation in style and quality, so the cars were already "dated" by the time they were finished. Deep wheels and wild flames were just getting to Maine by the time the resto-rod trend was already deeply entrenched elsewhere. I knew Sam well. He and I were co-founders of DESRO. But I don't recognize the other names mentioned in the coupe thread. They probably came onto the scene after I left for Cali to seek my fortune...and better roadster weather! Keep us informed of your progress. I've subscribed to your coupe thread. Good luck! Eric
Thanks for the info Eric. I just got an email with the original builders (Bob Pelton) phone number about 1/2 hour ago. He is expecting my call and should be able to shed a lot of light on the timing of things. I hope to talk with him later today. I have been to Maine several times as it is one of my favorite vacation destinations. I totally understand when you say they are a little behind the times! Dave
Very nice ride!...too bad you gotta let it go....but money is money...at least its going to a good cause!
Dave , I surely have seen many lucky people in my lifetime but you , my friend , is at the top ! You fall into a beautiful cl***ic 34 Ford and now a come into a beautiful 34 Ford hotrod ! You have the most sought after cars that Ford ever made . You are dipped in it and must have went back in line many times ! Congrats all the way around . Must be nice to have the best of both worlds with an original 34 and then a cl***ic 34 hotrod from a great builder ! I wish you the very best with both of your 34 Fords ! It's really nice to hear how you did come across them . I guess the old saying is right . If you are honest and treat people with respect and honor things will go your way . It all started with you talking and being very nice to a gentleman at a car show . To be honest I am the same way . I really enjoys talking with people at cars shows about my cars and how I got them and so on . It's nice that the gentleman knew the previous owner of your 54 and just being nice and enjoying your new found friend brought you some good luck . I got my 50 Ford the same way . Just being nice to someone that heard I was looking for parts for my 49 Ford got me a complete 50 Ford tudor less engine and trans for less than the s**** price I could get for it at the s**** yard . It's complete but needs the floors and rockers replaced . Congrats again and keep us informed on how your original turns out and how your hotrod turns out as well ! BTW a Y block will fit very nicely in that original 34 ! Jim
Thanks Jim The 34 is getting a '40 flathead in the next week or so. The hot rod is actually a '32 and will be getting a redo with the 327 getting topped off with a polished Edelbrock intake and 6 chrome Strombergs.
So a Sunday cruiser and weekend nightmare ! What a pair ! A 327 with 6 Stromberg's will really look great and run like a scalded dog ! Make sure you post some pictures ! Jim
