anyone from MA going to the show? And as for the Hard Rock for a location- the drinks are cheap and the food is good - you dont HAVE to go you know.... we just want ya to.
Aloha Ya'll I'll be there all week. First time as a new shop owner. Staying at a friends in Henderson, should make it on Wed. Bill
GF just got some tickets (Honeywell), and is arranging a flight and room... I'm a virgin, what should I expect as a spectator... Anbody else NOT working the show, but will still be there? I was in Vegas the week before 2 years ago, and saw all the set up, looks huge! Mike
I'll be there, got my flight, room and car today. 4T6--here's what to expect. Sore feet. If you want to see it all, you will have very sore feet. I measured the main show once with a pedometer--In 2 days we walked 27 miles. Yes, 27. We eat before we get there so we don't stop for lunch and walk non-stop from 10:00 until 6:00 for 2 days. Yes, it's a blur and the Chinese tire retreaders are not that exciting, but I like to see it all. I've given up on seeing the 2,000 exhibits at the AAPEX show, I just can't do it. Every year I say "never again" and about a month later I can't wait for next year. What's cool is that everyone is just another "car guy" You are behind the velvet rope. Everywhere you look are other regular car guys checking out stuff, but these car guys are Carroll Shelby (yes, got his autograph) Mario Andretti, Vic Edelbrock, Chip Foose, Jay Leno, Dennis Gage, every magazine writer in the world, Craig Jackson and everyone of the crew you see on the TV shows like Overhaulin, (No names--but the former American Hot Rod staffers confirm our favorite builder is even more of an asshole when the cameras are off- we see his "nice guy" act) That's how you walk 8 hours straight each day without stopping.
Ill be there with Dana and we dont have a formal booth set up or anything for just our shop. We get in on Tuesday and tryong to get a few peeps to go to the Hard Rock Wed nite at 9pm. Come on by!
I will be their Tuesday through Thursday night working my ass off. This is my 11th year in a row. Its fun but not as fun as it used to be. I go to shop product and it takes 2 full days non stop to walk the entire show. Lots of eye candy along the way though!
Being a newby, I have a question too... do they have food/drink vendors on site? if so, what kind of prices should i expect?
They have a captive audience - expect $4 hot dogs and $3 sodas. Hit the breakfast buffet hard at the casino in the morning, have 3 or 4espressos at the Chrysler booth for lunch and fill up on the gimme candy everyone has.
I'll be there Wed to Friday. Staying at the Paris. And yes they do sell beer at the convention site, but it aint cheap. Always enjoy the show, wouldnt miss it.
I will be at SEMA this year! I will be signing and giving stuff away at the Krause/Old Cars Weekly booth! I don't have a schedule yet, but I will be arriving Tuesday and will be there the rest of the week! Stop by and say hey! I would like to put some faces to the names I have seen here! Mike

I wish! I'm just a poor boy. working for toyota gotta make 2100 cars today and then go home and rest for the week end
Well, I guess it looks as if the Hard Rock is the place and 9PM Wednesday is the time. What I still haven't figured out is how will we all know who is and who isn't a H.A.M.B. member. As far as I know, there is no "secret handshake." What is the plan for "meeting and greeting?" As an aside, is anyone planning on going to the NHRA drags at the Strip?
LOL- maybe we should make one... I guess at the bar or at the tables is cool- I know last year when I walked in there about 1/2 the people in the place were people from SEMA- it was like a class reunion ----but better
I'll be there all week and try and make it. I guess it's as good of time as any to break out my HAMB tshirt
9pm Wednesday at Hard Rock it is! I will do my best to be there, unless they have other plans for me.... LOL Hope to meet a bunch of you guys! See ya then! Mike
Holy Bat Guano, I forgot that Wednesday is Halloween! Gathering at the Hard Rock should be a real "sight to behold" as the weirdos really gather by the score to inflict ocular pain to anyone in the flight path. However, as the HAMBsters themseves are generally more than a bubble off, perhaps the Hard Rock is the perfect place. Let the weirdness begin!
We're going to the finals on Sunday. Gen. admission, so we'll be spending all our time down by the starting line fence, you know, to get the "full effect".
Ahhhhhhhhhh, the smell of nitro and the roar of the fuelers when they mash the go pedal. Doesn't get any better than that. However, as my wife is going with me, I'm doomed to sit at the half track mark. Best I can do. Boo hoo, waaaaaaaaah....
