Semi - OT... Handlebars

I want to use some drag style handlebars on my 80 Bonny. There seems to be some concern that the stock master cylinder for my front disks is going to give me trouble.

The ones I've picked measure 28" which aren't the narrowest and I think they'll work. Just in case, has anyone heard of a plug or extension to widen bars a 1/2" or inch? Or any reason you can think of why that wouldn't work?

I see no reason why you couldn't weld on a section of handlebar, as long as it's under the grip/controls, who's gonna see it?? This does limit you to about 6-7 inches....
