If I didn't know better, I'd say this roadster is straight out of the little pages. You hit it out of the park Bill.

WOW! I want to thank you guys for the compliments!! I really appreciate it!! In my vision for this car , it had black wheels and whitewalls just like Bill Schwoeble's Plymouth in his avatar. That's what guys did back in the early sixties. I bought 40 Ford style wheels with a single 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern and had them powder coated black . At the same time in my mind's eye ,I could see the Lancer flippers catching the sunlight on my uncle's 57 Stude Silverhawk back in the mid sixties. I bought a set of 57 Dodge Lancer Gold Knight wheel covers . Once I installed them I knew they would stay. Those wheel covers were the icing that put that car right back on that early sixties cake. It's a time machine :D Bill

I kinda hate to post my jalopy after that beautiful roadster above, but this is my project and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. 20220213_122607.jpg

    Hello,

As long a friendly teenage rivalry exists, that can lead to some radical competition, yet remain friends throughout all of the trials and antics. Our close friend had a 1934 Ford 5 window coupe that always came over to our house in the Westside of Long Beach. It was sitting in our driveway and most neighbors thought it was my brother’s hot rod.

In reality, all of my brother’s friends and my friends, later on, came over due to my mother’s great cooking all snacks and meals. From fancy roast beef sandwiches to gourmet teriyaki steak/chicken skewers for a simple lunch. An endless supply of Cokes, 7 Up And Pepsi glass bottles finished the meals or snacks.

When the conversations turned to drag racing, hot rods and motor builds, then the banter started to get tossed across the rumpus room tables and couches. Prior to us making our speed shop/backyard garage later.

Since our friend had his 34 Ford coupe with a big oldsmobile motor and LaSalle transmission, he was the only guy to get some great time in his runs at Lion’s Dragstrip. but, the sedans and coupes of all of their friends always talked a good fight, until the resulting timing slips showed up to tone down the subject.

My brother knew he could not win a race with his 51 Oldsmobile versus the Oldsmobile powered 34, so he drifted off into the world of Model A coupes as his potential first hot rod build.

But as teenage adventures go, it did not last too long as my brother already knew of another friend that wanted to buy the Model A coupe. Money was to be made, so he sold it as fast as possible. Why? The Gas Coupe build was now history… but, within a week, a new black 1958 348/280 hp Impala was sitting in our driveway as his next real car.

The Model A was gone and so was our first hot rod build. Besides, when both of us sat in the seats in our, “around the block(s) drive,” it was a little cramped for two big teenagers. But, the excitement of the old Model A that we got running far surpassed the discomfort in seating.

The Model A coupe was the first of many projects and dreams that ran through teenage minds during those early hot rod days. At least, I got to drive a 4 cylinder Model A coupe around the neighborhood for a short time... But, "what if…"

Maybe not a true Hotrod..but it's mine and it'll do a burnout in the dirt.
