I am installing new fuel tank and sending unit in my 59 Apache. The old sending unit female part was smaller than the new sending unit female part. So they don't mate. Do I need to get some kind of coupler or a new sending unit or a new fuel line? Also they don't align. How do I best deal with that? Thank you. IMG_3611.JPG

Parts store should have the adapter fitting. It seems you need "5/16 female inverted flare, with 3/8 male inverted flare" (to use a 5/16 line into 3/8 female)

You should be able to bend the old 5/16 line to fit, after you get the adapter

did you get a 3/8" sender, instead of the stock 5/16"? I think they make them now for guys putting bigger engines in old trucks. I expect the best thing to do would be to get the right part. Since you installed it, you probably can't return it.

that would be a tough one to find an adapter for, I think.....

and to get the parts to align, you bend the steel fuel line.

I ordered it from Tanks Inc and I talked to them and it is the only one they have for that truck 5/16. I'm taking it to a shop Monday. This is over my head and I'm screwing it up and soaked my cab insulation with gas. Damn.
