I'm looking for some wheels for my '63 Riv and ran across a set of Star Wires on-line for $400. Seems like a good deal for those wheels. What do you all think?

    thanks - er

What size? Offset? How many spokes? What is the condition of the center hub section, specifically around the lug holes?

  3. Like Eryk said, check them out, if they fit and are clean, that is a good price. They are reproducing the now, but they damn sure aren't $400 set.

I had 3 of em a while back in so-so shape and was suprised at the demand when they went up for sale. If they've got good chrome and good lug holes, (and you like em) that price doesn't seem out of line.

I took an ancient yellow pinstripe bridgestone radial "tyre" off one of mine. Not really a fan of those wheels, but that was a sharp looking combo for an early 70s ride. Superfly indeed

I love the Star Wires. I know they were expensive new, so if these are in good shape, I'd snag them. Hell, just a set of chrome smoothies will cost you nearly that much.

$400 is not a bad price at all. Some brand new 15x7 standards went for about 900 on ebay not too long ago. Keep in mind though, if any of the chrome is peeling off they cannot be rechromed. You'll just have to live with it. And check the lug holes. These were unilug and the holes were recessed so that the washers would fit flush and snug in the hub. Problem is, lots of people don't run the correct washers with the offset hole and that recessed area gets chewed up. It can make them not seat right and feel wobbly. Not good.
