If you glue the glass to the inside of the pinch-weld; what are you going to do about the exterior appearance of pinch-weld that is normally covered by rubber?

I've seen this with glass on the outside, inner perimeter painted with pinch-weld primer and the edge finished with S-10 (?) plastic molding.

Also seen glued in window removed because early bodies flex too much and rigid mounted glass cracked.

  2. There are several things I should mention. The top has been chopped and I do not want to see rubber around the glass. I know alot of new builds have the glass set in from the outside. Technically from the inside is wrong but I believe it will be sealed and aside from that not driven in the rain. I have accounted for a rubber strip around the glass where the garnish molding will go against. It is a two piece windshield so that may take up some of the stress. Also the chassis is highly modified . Joe

This would have been handy to know.
You got a lot of advice on how to properly mount glass in an old 30s car. Some posters even provided photos from manuals.
Nobody knew the goal posts were moved. In a sense those folks wasted their time.

I think mounting the windshields like you want is a very bad idea. I think it defies logic and physics.
So you want to caulk/tape/glue the glass on the inside?
The glue may be strong enough. That may not be what holds it in. What about the paint and primer?
You see you are relying or calling on a component to do something it was never designed to do.....bear a load.
What’s going to keep that glass out of your face at 80mph? Caulk? A thin layer of primer or paint?

If you are going this 80s smoothie look. The glass needs to go on the outside oversized so the metal flange keeps it out of your lap.
    Or......
Mount it in rubber where the rubber retains it like original.
