So I just installed new needles and seats in my Holley 600 VS (single body) carb. I drained all the fuel out of the bowls and was wondering if anyone had a good recco on where to start as my baseline? Should run the floats low as possible then raise a half turn at a time, quarter turn, better advice?

  2. Did you have the bowls off? Years ago, I was taught to make the floats level, but that requires having the bowls off.

I don't know on a baseline, but i always put a rag on the intake, and with the car running and the sight plugs out, i raise them until i can rock the car and gas comes out of the sight hole

While I haven’t done one in a while the way I learned to initially set them was on the bench. With a float bowl off turn it upside down and adjust the needle and seat so that the top of the float is parallel to the top of the bowl, viewed when it’s upside down.
Once you do both that way you can pull the coil wire and crank the engine (or simply run the electric fuel pump if you have one) to fill the bowls. Now remove the sight screw on a bowl and check the fuel level, it should just be touching the bottom of the hole. Adjust to suit.

this one is quite different, it's a single 1 piece body (bowls cannot be removed) and there are no sight screws, this has sight gl*** and cannot be removed.
