Setting pinion angle in 53 chevy 2dr.....????

    Hows it going every one I wanted to know if any of you guys had an idea on how to set the pinion angle ive heard that you set it at 2 degres...But not shure motor and trans ar bolted in Rear end is mocked up in the leafs but not yeat welded up any ideas on how to set that pinion angle any advice would help...Thanks everyone VIVA EL H.A.M.B...!!

    if the engine/****** are in place, take an angle measurer thing and find the angle of the output shaft on the ******, whatever that angle is set the pinion angle to that using shims.

  3. 2 degrees is just a nominal number. What you want is for the pinyon shaft to be the same angle as the crankshaft. So in thory if the crankshaft is 2 degrees up so would the pinyon shaft at loaded ride height. Not with the springs free hanging.

    Let me try:

    If you run a straight line from you pinion and a straight
    line out of your tailshaft they should be paralell.

    Plug in your driveshaft and you want a minimum of 2deg angle.

    If you have less than 2deg your U-joint will not exercise and you will be likeley to have problems.
