I deleted my first post to get rid of the info also.
Sorry, just replying to a previous post that was left up. Probably better off letting people ruin an OT engine anyway!

That would be neat to have sitting in some nostalgic shop with a tag saying it was an original four bolt main 283 (327) .
Can you imagine the sh*t you could start with conversations about that and then make a phony bet that you could prove it? Not too many people would realize it was converted, and after a good laugh you could tell them the truth....or not. Then they get on the internet and start another myth. :D:D:D:D

Just for fun, I'll bring up something from the hamb circa 1999 or so. There was a Canadian hamber that had a 327 out of a combine that had a 4 bolt main block. He had posted pics of the block and casting numbers etc. I have always wondered what the story was on that. Maybe a replacement block.

I wonder if that thread is buried in the archives? Not that it matters.

I am going from memory so my story may be off, but that was what the old man brain told me.

  5. I remember that story I think that thread came back up in '03 or '04 when I first joined the HAMB. Or maybe you told it to me at some point when our paths crossed.

Funny and in the spirit of ruffling some feathers I still own an early 4 bolt 350 block. If we had a large journal 327 crank we could scab it together grind the numbers off and tell everyone that it is a rare factory race motor. LOL
