Paint time, well for some of the car. The rear quarters aren't blocked yet, nor is the hood, the fins and roof are, so I shot them. I'm using this Earlex turbine unit from Eastwood, it works great with primers, solids, clears and absolutely perfect for metalflake but it's 2.0 tip is not good for metallics. The roof had a reaction so it will have to be stripped back to primer, I don't know WTF happened, but it's not good, the fins came out great, there's a couple of blotches hare and there but nothing too noticeable for this amateur. The base color is a Honda pink gold, and the flake Lil Roth, Dog Pecker Pink.
This is Vince, he and his wife are visiting from England, he's in the Executioners in London, he'll be at the Round Up, say hi to the lucky bugger. He helped me tape and carry the air hose.
I shot two more coats of clear over the flake to bury it, now I'll flatten it back and spray on more clear, or maybe do some panel painting, I dunno, I wanted to keep it simple but I'm finding it hard to contain myself. BTW, the tailgate jambs, doors edges and dashboard are all painted Mary Kay pink, non metallic, but I might chuck some pearl over the top.
Pink fins & roof over splotchy primer on bottom with Batman in the bed. Nads don't give a damn what anybody thinks!!!! I like that about him. Love the pink too. Can't wait to see the bottom get some color. JH
All my favorite things in this world, are pink! Can I drain that pond and skate it!? I wouldn't get any work done, with that in my yard.. I miss my ramp!
Roof redone, but i made a mistake again. The topcoat clear, Shopline JC661 is supposed to be catalyzed with hardener, but I was doing the flake with intercoat clear which just has a reducer, I reduced the topcoat. It has hardened some, but I'm afraid I might be in for a repaint again, I'm seriously bummed out about it because it came out beautiful.
I also fogged the dashboard, I didn't fuck up with the clear on this, simply because I ran out and realized what I had done, so this still has to be buried in clear.
Love the dash treatment, and the pink will look great with the wild lines of the Elky...awesome work Nads!
Outstanding! Didn't think I like the pink when I first heard about it, but I really think it looks good in the pictures. Can't wait to see it in person.
Thank you, I just sprayed on three coats of clear over the dash, should ready to buff in a day or two.
Junior year of HS, my buddy needed to get his '74/ 4-dr Maverick on the road. It failed inspections 3 times, before we had enough Bondo and riveted sheet metal on the thing to cover all the holes. Still laugh about it. A couple of stupid 16 yr olds doing bodywork. Classic!
looks awesome nads. makes me want to build something radical just to mess around with wild paint. looks like so much fun.
