Just what you need Mike, another project - Haha - you've already got the "Elthunderchero" waiting in the wings, and the Caddy powered '29 roadster; and the '60 Caddy; and the '57 Caddy; and the Mid-year Vette road racer; and the '54 Ford limo; and a half dozen more I can't think of right now - Haha - JK brother - who loves ya? Course if all yer friends would quit bugging ya to help out with their shit maybe you could get some of yours done,,, Looking good Nads...
Gator, I could finish them ALL and still not be as cool as our man Nads Nadeem, I have two parts cars..... if you need anything, I might have it.. lemme know
I've done a ton of work, I put in bear claw latches, I couldn't deal with the original bullcrap ones anymore, now the doors shut with a gentle click and pop open just like that and align perfectly.
These work great Jay, the door clicks shut without slamming and it will open just as easily with door poppers. I bought 8 cent a piece stainless buttonheads and polished them while screwed to the latches, they came out better than the $3.89 each chrome ones at ACE, I'm gonna do buttonheads for the fender bolts too.
This is one of the best and worst threads ever. Love the work being done on the Elky, hate all that bondo abuse. Why God, why? EVERYTHING on my 55 was half-assed when I bought it, and I've spent the past 7 years fixing it little by little, while still being able to enjoy the car. The good thing is the body is pretty solid. I just don't have the hands or the talent to body work, and nobody wants to teach you.
My latches seem to work pretty good, even with the new rubber I installed last week, they pop right open and take more of a tug than a slam to close.
Took my 59 Impala wheel and turned into a 58. I got a repro 58 ring from this place, it's the only place i found that has em. http://www.impalaparts.com/category.php?CatId=325 I cut two new upper grooves into my old wheel to accommodate the full 58 ring. I also have about 4 hours into fixing the minor cracks with PC 7, it's time consuming but worth it, if you don't cut the cracks out and fill them and just prime and paint the cracks will come right back.
the roof and fin tops are sanded out and polished, they look great, i need to get her out in the sun. The main body is ready to be painted, the front and rear valances are done.
Because I'm obsessed with plastic I made a badge insert for the license plate bracket, prototype # 1 was a failure because I mounted it to the backing plastic thereby making it impossible to polish. I polished successful # 2 first then glued it to the back.
Almost ready to drive to Terryville CT. Got Mr. White lined up to stripe it there !! Looking Great my Brown Brother
and i took a picture of my Capri, the lighting was just perfect and the pearl in the paint was glowing in the morning sun.
Hey nads , Are you going with the black or the tintable ? Also I found that the lower the air pressure the better when spraying that stuff I think I was at some think like 5-7 psi , when I did it and it turned out real nice .
Haven't decided, I'm gonna use the truck as a truck so I'll probably end up painting it black. Where did you get your Raptor from?
Great progress Nads. When you install roof moldings could you take couple of pics. I will need to take of mine this summer and still need to figure out how to remove them without braking them. Roof is going to get some glitter paint...
