I color sanded and polished my hood, it looks better in the pics than in real life, but I'm happy with it.

Fenders aren't sanded, you can see the orange peel.

I made flat lenses from a sheet of defracting plexi glued to a sheet of clear red and cut with a jigsaw and polished. I have a grand total of $6 in material in these things but I'm not done with them, gonna add some detail to them.

I decided to make some dress up horizontal strips to add interest to the flat lens, I laminated a sheet of read acrylic between two sheets of pink metalflake plexi. I cut and sanded the pieces to length then rounded and polished them, finally I glued them to the flat lenses. The light shines through the clear red. I like how they came out.

They look better in real life than the pics, I'm waiting for the cement to dry and I'll give them a right good polishing tomorrow. I love working with plastic.

  11. That looks a lot better than just the flat lens.
How about another short bar above that one.

I think it'll seriously cut down on the light coming through, I can mock it up and see, might look great.

  14. You need to make miniature chrome teeth for those bars, that match the Imperial teeth... Get on it.

I just love where you're heading with this. Those taillights are outstanding! This has been an awesome build to follow and I can't wait to see it in person. Rock on brother!

Worked my ass off today, sanded and polished the driver's side and installed the trim, looks damn good, other side will be polished tomorrow, ran out of clips to mount the trim though, you can't buy this shit in the auto parts store no mo, it's all glued on plastic portholes these days.........fuck! Stupid run on sentence!

I'm hoping most folks won't even know it's chopped.

I put a pair of Dodge Lancer caps on her, I ran a set back in 1991 on my first Elky, I'm not sure I like 'em.

  25. I can really picture it with a set of wires.

  26. Is that at all ironic considering the title of this thread?

I wonder if you could cut down a couple of '60 Chevy accessory bumper guards to make teeth for the taillights. Probably too big of a starting point though. I'm drawing a blank on an easy starting point.

The car looks great so far, though, it's not hard to picture it being featured in say a Custom Cars Annual from like 1964.

Sucky rainy day in Florida but I did get the other side polished and trim put on, I just made somke clips from scratch because I'm impatient and cheap.

Mo, I have two sets of different sneaker pipes that'll work great on the car, I'll post mock up pics soon.
