I decided to take wander through the junk yard. After an hour of looking "I'll try one last row". It just so happened I found an 88 Lincoln with the proper measurements...... Didn't want to get my hopes up, but the proportions are close.
That was fun! Glad I brought my sawsall.
Getting the fabric off was a pain but on the bright side, it protected the panel and preserved it in mint condition. I cut into 6" strips and peeled. Took a gallon of pain stripper to get the glue/paint off.

I think I might have been pretty lucky with the roof skin profile. Im quit pleased with its fit. I plan on oxy/acetylene welding (hammer welding). I've been getting away with mig on most of the other pieces but I want a metal finish and I don't think this big of a panel would be forgiving with mig

  10. It's been a year since I worked on my Autocar, sometimes life just takes over and wrecks the best of plans. Good to see you back to work on it, it'll be a good one!

Good to see you back on it Derrick. I had a m***ive garage sale last weekend, sold the remainder of my daughters stuff that was taking up a bay in my shop. I too will be jumping back on the project.

I've seen the 80's van 90° brake master mounting brackets at the junk yard before, but no luck finding one on my last trip so I had to make my own. Fits nicely under the hood 20181024_124929.jpg 20181024_155020.jpg 20181030_193531.jpg

I ended up re-doing the radiator support and moving it forward to gain a couple inches of foot room. Then I changed the rad fans and will make a small tunnel for better air flow. 20181010_113509.jpg 20181105_224829.jpg

I jumped at the chance to get this 59 impala dash. Lots of cutting and welding ahead but should be worth it
    20181107_105948.jpg
Spliced the Coe dash and the Impala, then have to make some panels to tie it together

Cool dash, people are going to start thinking they are the stock dash. Blue has one in his GMC bike hauler, I acquired one for mine a couple years back and was measuring it up last week. And if memory serves me there was another COE with a 59 dash out there somewhere. Guess we all have good taste. :)

Yours turned out great. I didnt want to copy anyone, but like Barry said we seem to have similar taste.
Im torn because I think I may incorporate the powerstroke Speedo cluster simply because of the engine management. It simply won't work with the impala gauges which is half the reason I like them so much. I'll probably do a trial set up to see if I can keep it modern with that old style

The two panels meet and make a valley. I messed around with the sand bag and e-wheel to smooth the transition

Keep up the good work. Dash swaps are fun. Mine has a 48 Ford p***enger dash now. Think about the a/c vents while you are building everything and check for clearance for the windshield swing arms.

I used a 4 in 1 speedometer, this left two gage holes open and put 2 of my vents in them . If you blow up photo above you can see them . Don’t know how that will work with what your putting in for instruments . Have fun . Blue

Do you have anymore pics of the brake pedal and hydroboost setup. I just got my 41 Ford coe body mounted on the frame and me and my brother last night we’re trying to figure out what to do for a brake pedal.

Thanks Blue, your pictures show better detail than my rusty mock up parts.

tjelwood.... the 90° hydroboost bracket is simple enough to make and I would suggest a trip to the autowreckers for a pedal ***embly if you don't already have one. There are aftermarket prebuild units available too.

When I started building my truck, I built this exact setup...it worked great...then unfortunately I had to remove it to make room behind my firewall for my heater and a/c unit., the ductwork, etc. Keep that in mind. As for the pedal, most factory pedals are too short, but you can easily lengthen one, just keep the same ratios from pivot to rod and pivot to pad.
