Hi Mike, I did a search and found your message dated 9-18-05. Thank you for caring about my condition. When you sent your message I was on my 8th day on life support systems. I had suffered 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 35% of my body. My face, arms and hands were burned very badly, kinda like when you forget to flip over the tri-tip on the BBQ. My biggest concern was that I could see the bones on four fingers on my left hand and three on my right hand. Brandon Flaner who risked his own life to pull me out from under the car, said I was coherant and only wanted a cup of coffee before I finally p***ed out from the pain. I don't rember seeing my wife who responed quickly nor do I remember the chopper flight to the hospital. After 10 days on life support the medical staff at the San Pablo Burn Center was able to take me off of their systems and had me relocated to the San Francisco Saint Francis Burn Center for reconstruction. The staff there reconstructed my face, ear and best of all the were able to repair my fingers and hands so I could continue to build hot rods. I was released on October 8th, just in time to see my friends at Hasels in Antioch. I was in a wheelchair at the time and have had to relearn a lot of stuff like walking, getting dressed and many other things we take for granted. Six months have gone by and day by day I seem to recover a little more. My recovery won't be complete, but it will be enough that I can build cars again........I'll just need a hand from a friend from time to time. Thanks again Jerry Sezar
I've been wondering how you were doing. Glad to hear you are on the mend & thinking positive. Hope to see you at the local shows again soon.
