figuring this post may not p*** the "period correct" purity test i'll ask the question here. i've looked through a few similar posts but didn't find anything quite addressing my problem so here it goes:

just wondering how hard should it be to install (press fit?) these shackle bushes into my spring and spring bracket. parts are all from speedway motors and the bushes are nylon; i cannot fit them by hand at all. also, i'm having the problem with the rear spring and brackets but i'll be going out to the car (pile o'parts) today to see if i'm running into the problem up front too.

i tried reaming the sleeve for the bushes but wasn't getting anywhere and started thinking i might be barking up the wrong tree. also, thinking of chamfering the end of the bush and using a long bolt with body washers to press fit but wanna check with you guys first before i ruin something.

  2. Grease them up, (you can use dishwashing detergent) and , one at a time, use your long bolt with the washers. Put the whole thing in a vice if you can, take your time, make sure it goes in straight. A hyraulic press with the right tool would be better.
