shady shade tree mechaniks

  1. is there any "tape" or other wonder material(cheap and fast) with which to patch a cracked exhaust manifold? If it lasts a month I'll be satisfied, I intend to replace it as soon as I find a good one.

    If you know anyone who works in a power plant, they have this grey goopy stuff that works pretty good! At the plants they use it to fix pipes and stuff, but it can take exhaust temps and works there, too.

    My cousin is a power plant engineer in Wisconsin and sent us some of that stuff...did the trick on a cracked manifold...quieted a daily beater right down!

    I'll see if I can find out what it's called and where else you can get it!

    In our shop, we use Permatex Muffler and Tailpipe sealer....
    works good on semis, why not cars?
    $2.10 for three ounce tube from me:)
