Why does this remind me of an old hamb post.
I'm pretty sure it was an old movie with a dog and a flying car maybe with fred mcmurray?
The hamber had the car suspended in midair like it was flying.

I think that movie was about Flubber.

EDIT: The movie was The Absent Minded Professor.
    ALSO: Son of Flubber.

I distinctly remember those days and Annette. It's odd though; when I was 12, Annette was 14; when I was 16, Annette was 16; when I was 19, Annette was 17. She sure could fill a bra though, even them pointy fifties examples (a lot better than the girls in my high school).

Cool beans, I was 12 or 13 when I saw that movie at the Lynwood theater on Bainbridge Island Wa. Like Tubman and a lot of teenage boys in that time frame I had a big crush on Annette. I was also becoming a car freak or advancing as one and anything Hot rod in a movie caused me to want to see the movie.

It's probably one of those cars that would be safer at the Peterson museum where it's history is respected .

If Disney gets the car there could be an Autoamertronix (sp)dog built for it.

The New Adventures of Sid and Marty- That was on the Mickey Mouse Club. They always teased this car, but I never saw the episode featuring the neat little roadster. upload_2024-7-19_15-22-20.jpeg

FYI the Shaggy Dog is on Disney+ if anyone want's to watch it

  15. You Shaggy Dog Roadster guys are gonna like this. Harley from the UK saw my post on Instagram... and sent me these pictures. He said he's pretty sure it's the same car, and after looking closely at the car, the headlight mount and the flattened out '32 shell... I think I'd have to agree! Same car! Now... who's was it? Who built it? Is this the rare care where I car is worth more in its corny TV/Movie version that its dry lakes racing badassery? Has anyone else made the connection between the two? You decide!

    Sam,
I have the panoramic shot of all the Road Runners taken at a So Cal horse track I believe. Somewhere, I have the list of all the men in the shot. IMG_0946.jpg

It appears to have different front fenders, and some of the suspension looks different. The interior has been redone. The movie car did not have the upholstery wrap over the body like the photo of the car. The hood louvers appear to be at a different angle and the radio antenna has been removed and filled. I'm not saying it isn't the same car but he'd have to have something more than a story to verify it's the same car. Especially if he thinks it is worth serious dollars. Still a nice car and brings back good memories.

  25. I disagree. I would also go so far to say that it is the same car in the Luther Eldridge photos. in 77 years, things like the suspension wish bones, steering box placement, flattened peak on the '32 shell, frame, headlight mounts are all the same. and the front bumper from 70 years ago... same. So the front fenders got changed, interior... and maybe the hood? That stuff doesn't erase the rest.

As I said, it could be. But be more critical in your comparison. The front bumper is similar not the same. The movie car’s bumper was straight across. This one curves back on both sides. Any reproduction would have the big items right. The details are what makes it indisputable. This one lacks the small details. Why would anyone change the front fenders if they weren’t damaged? If the fenders were damaged, what else was? Maybe the front bumper? It is possible. But the documentation should confirm it. We also have very limited photos of the car as it sits currently. It’s hard to really dig in and see what isn’t exactly the same. I can say that I believe the 2006 photo car is the same as this one. But compare that suspension you said is the same with the movie car in the post right above it at almost the same angle. I think there are a lot of differences. But again, just my opinion.

Edit: How many replicas did they make for the movie? I don't think any movie production uses just one of anything critical to the plot. Maybe it is one of the movie set cars as there was one photo from the movie that looked like it had rounded front fenders. Hmmmm.
