What would be needed to remove the trim on a 50 Chevy deck lid? Is there a lock that works with the stock latch? Thanks

  2. Things have been done a million different ways over the years. Using a stock unit today seems to me to be a Ton of work and then there's how do I back up the unit so when it don't work I can still get it open. Some like to add a solenoid and some like just a pull cable. Myself I like to change the arrangement and use a Jaw type latch and reverse the way it's installed. I put the catch ring on the Lid and mount the latch to the body side. This lets me keep the wires from opening with the lid or cable from extending and flexing. You can also make a manual release somewhere under the car for a back up. I don't know a specific kit made to do the job but most universal things out there are made in China and work just fine till the first time you leave town with the Trunk full of Luggage kind of like those electric Door Kits. Good luck with your choice.
