im trying to figure out where to hook the cable from the solenoid to the original door latch on my 49 merc.i have been welding tabs and brackets to the door,the latch,the handle,and nothing seems to work.the solenoid is from SPAL.i ve called all the companys that make shaved handle kits and they said the original latch cant be used,i would have to change to bearclaw latches.the problem is the solenoid almost pulls the latch open and then runs out of stroke or the window glass is in the way,any ideas?my friend has a 51 merc i tried to copy but his latch is different.
ARe u runnin it inside the door?....I tried to do that on my el camnio but theres no room...so i had to hook it up on the outside ....just bolted it to the door and it opens fine...when i get door panels it will cover it up...
