    Its a fake! Enough said.

  2. Hell. The asking sounds decent. Make a offer. I wouldn't lowball him too much, but you might save a few $$. Don't see you losing in that price range.

  3. maybe i will have to reconsider my first post on this thread

while i'm not fond of them , you could have a lot of fun with that for 8 grand. obviously some changes have been made. it will probably sell. i'd put smaller front tires on and maybe change the wheels and drive the crap out of it

does it still have the 4 cylinder in it? lot's of speed parts are available

You "fake" car police crack me up. The shay was never intended to pass for a real model a. It was a 1970s/1980s reproduction with some modern changes. My dad sold those when he was a ford dealer back then. We had one. The biggest difference between the shay and a real model a? We would take road trips in the shay 4 times a year to visit grandma and grandpa 4 hours away. Mom, dad, and 5 kids! Never had a breakdown or problem. They're fun cars.

Just sold one that my dad owned for over 20 years.

You bought them at a Ford dealership. They are a way for a guy to to drive something that is easy to drive, dependable and to al the other non-car people on the street they think it's a real A.

They did a decent job of looking like an A for the most part, and lots of parts will interchage with them.

After Shay went out of business Camelot bought them out and did some improvments and continued to build them as a complete car.

They bring pretty good money if it's a clean car......8K is cheap if it's a nice car.

I rode in the rumble seat of one when I was little, thought it was the coolest thing ever! I wouldn't mind having one now...

We bought one as our first"learner" rod back in '85 and owned it for 4 1/2 yrs 65,000 miles as a daily driver.

Most all the things said are true, but even my club at the time admitted that we drove/raced ours more than anyone else.We drove Fla to Mich,NSRA Nats in Louisville, camping all over towed a ski boat.

We modified the engine and a lot of the stupid Shay components

That one you posted has a lot of the Shay stuff changed, and looks good in my opinion.I wouldn't hesitate to change the wheels and have a great daily driver.But....be advised that you will get shit from a lot of rodders, and may have a difficult time when it's time to sell

Pics of ours: (sorry still haven't taken the time to figure out pics resizing & posting)

They had one piece body, glassed onto a one piece floor/splash apron/running board, fender unit.

The frame was not stiff, was enough for a built 2.3 though.

Mine had a small rear, that I replaced with an 8" when I blew it drag racing

4 spd was better than auto with 2.3 (I ran both

  9. there is one on that auction site right now...... $10,100 reserve not met with 16 bids and one day to go

at $8000 he is not out of line.

If I'm not mistaken, Speedway sold some body/frames as kits at one time.Called them a Modern A If I recall. They looked the same pieces as Shay/Camelot,but was after their demise.

    Maybe bought leftover stock?
