Yes, the two examples shown are beautiful cars, and the way I see a 32 3-window, so my vote would be not to chop it (if I had a vote) if you want a chopped 3-widow I would get a glass body ......no harm no foul. Hey that is a nice car, happy for you.
The post by Deuce Roadster almost brings a tear to my eye. I feel like that will be me someday. The old man that will never sell it so don't bother asking. I think this will be true for a lot of us. I'm glad the owner was a jerk, I bet a lot of people have come to him in the past looking to buy the car but no one was cool enough for him to sell it to. Good for you always going back, actually talking to the guy and getting to know him. If I was you I would totally build "his" Hot Rod. The way it was. That would make for such a better story in 50 years from now. Your car has more soul than most. When that guy was building it he was thinking about all the girls he is going to get, all the rich kids with new cars he was going to make look stupid, all the credibility from his friends. And that is probably what you are thinking as you restore a piece of history, for some people anyway. Have fun and congratulations.
I dunno man, those doors look purty rusty, the whole thing looks too rough to mess with. Right. Great find.
Wow, what a blessing and cool find! Deuce, i love the "care takers" line... so much truth to that Congrats once again and enjoy the car, cab
That looks KILLER with the wide 5s. That is something that you don't see enough of these days IMO. Bitchin.
Guys... Keep the ideas on the car coming...I am listening. I am in awe of the power of the HAMB...who would of thought, someone from Austrailia chiming in on a car found in east TN...AWESOME!! I have been calling around for info & parts as I get time, and I talked to Dick Spadaro yesterday..."Is this the blue/green one on the Jalopy Journal?" Wow!!! By the way...Does anyone have any detail pics of the subrail, rocker, floorpan area of a 3W? A couple of people have told me that a 5w subrail will work in a 3w with a little modification...has anyone done this? Any advice or parts recommendations (good or bad) would be very much appreciated...
i don't see nothing,i don't see nothing,,i don't see nothing,,i don't see nothing,,i don't see nothing ,,i don't see nothing,,i don't see nothing,,i don't see nothing,,i don't.........ohh my god!!
I for one can attest to spending more time admiring uncut '32 Ford anything these days...not to bash on the chopped channeled, etc... More often than not, I walk by fenderless chopped 3W coupes at shows because there are far fewer fendered, uncut coupes around. I am not judging or trying to tell you what you should do. But DO take a hard look at Deuce Roadster's albums (and others)...the car is timeless... You have your work cut out for you, but it's certainly a worthy cause. Congratulations. Not much more can be said that hasn't been more than once already... BIGREDTODD
There 1500.00 for the set...plus another 200 for the rear extensions...5w are less than 1/2 the price throught R&J'S or McPherson's. Don't get me wrong...If I have to step up to the Brookville's I will, but this option has been suggested by a couple of different suppliers so far...
Hey man I have a guy that can make them for you. I'll call you later. What a thread. Youre a rockstar dude!
How about a few photos of the coupe inside. Did you get the glove box door, the metal glove box liner and the almost always GONE ash tray ? Look at the Murray body tag ... on the floor brace It is located here ... on the passenger side of the floor Please post the Murray body number ( not your VIN number ). 3WLarry's coupe and my 3W coupe were only a few numbers apart. They were most likely built the same day
You can just about see all this guys hopes and dreams fading away in his face. Kinda sad and yet kinda cool. Excellent photo and like said earlier, you would have to be older to feel the full impact of this picture.
Thanks for the video and sharing the whole event guys! What was the old bottle in the radiator about? Obviously adding water to the radiator but...Just noticed it after looking at the pictures once before.
You got screwed man! Didnt you notice they had put sealed beam kits in the headlight buckets.Oh well, give it to me and I will try to do something with it.
Very cool find. Definately leave the roof alone! I must have missed it if the price was announced? We'd be a lot more animated if it was bought/swiped for $300 than if you (over)paid $50,000.
Deuce... No plate there...I will try to post pics of the inside tomorrow when I get in. Thanks for these detail pics...they show how the subrail should look, and it is nothing like mine. Part of the original subrail seems to be under the B pillars, The rest looks home made. I am starting to think that the body itself may have been channeled at one time. Yes, The dash is there, as is the glovebox door...no ashtray or box. While we are talking about this...the plates at the bottom of the B pillar assembly and at the bottom of the cowl supports...are they welded to the subrail, or just bolted through to the frame? Thanks in advance for any pics or advice...good or bad...anything is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks..I will need all the help I can get!!! And you're right about the sleep thing...I'm driving my wife nuts...
No sleep and all these posts on the HAMB, I doubt you missed it, but there was a post about something you should get. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=391349 Clean her up, lube everything, take stock of what you've got, figure out what you need, and for god's sake, wipe that silly grin off your face! Like that's going to happen any time soon!
It's official, I hate you. Why can't I ever find anything cool? Congrats on the score, now park it in a barn in NorCal and let me find it, will you?
