Hello all, I picked up a pretty clean '31 Fordor after seeing it here on the 'cl***ifieds' page. Despite being clean, it does have its spots where the light gets through. I am using 18 gauge for any spots on the doors and wheel wells, but I also need to replace the piece under the windshield frame (the top pat of the window). That seems like it may have been thinner to begin with, Ant thoughts on what's an appropriate gauge there? Thanks in advance!

I can speak for everyone but I have used 18 and 2o gauge for body patch panels. HRP

What works best is to use the same thickness patch metal as the thickness of the part being patched.

For some reason 19 ga sheetmetal seems to be available on the east coast and not the west coast. Most early cars used 19 ga. I cut up old car panels and keep the sheetmetal and use it for patch panels.
