Technical Shift Sequence - Aluminium Powerglide

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by blackjack, Apr 8, 2026 at 6:55 AM.

  1. I am fitting my 1957 347 Pontiac with an aluminium Powerglide from a mid 60's Impala.

Could someone confirm the shift sequence ? Is it PNRDL or PRNDL?

They're a bit thin in the ground over here so I can't just check...

  3. Thanks. I looked on Rock Auto for gearlever surround for a 65 Impala and that shows PRNDL.

I want to have a sequence plate 3D printed. Might be easier to wait until I have finished the swap and just see what it does then. I'm using a Hurst Quarterstick but that won't change the sequence.

pretty sure they switched from PNDLR to PRNDL in 1958 on Powerglides. Since the Aluminum arrived in 1962, it would be PRNDL
