I just got a 63 Comet factory V8 with 2sp trans. The factory shifter is frozen in the column. What have others used in the way of a floor shifter in these. everyone I see is for either a powerglide or for a C4/C6 thanks

Should be a solid inner shaft, outer tube should slide off. From memory there is a bushing at bottom of tube and a circlip and spring at top in teapot when you remove steering wheel. You may need to loosen box at frame and saddle under column to remove outer tube with inner shifter tube. Don't forget to unbolt shifter rod and disconnect electrics? Not much really there, outer tube and internal shifter tube that connects to shift arm. A roll pin holds the shift arm in.

I was working on a 57 Ranchero once that had the same problem. Turned out that linkage inside of the transmission went past where it was supposed to go and got jammed up. Just something to consider. I'm ***uming you have already disconnected the linkage from the transmission and the shifter is still jammed up though.

The old pinto/mustang automatic floor shifts are easy to adapt. HRP

I used one of those Mustang shifters in my T bucket with a powerglide in the 70's . It doesn't get any more simple and all you have to do is rig a rod from the shifter to the shift arm and adjust it.
