I know the rules say pre 64 so I am kind of splitting hairs . I hope I don't ruffle some ones feathers !!
I have a 55 Ford Fairlane that I am going to install a 1983 Mustang GT 302 with 600 Holley and a 4 speed trans . This was the last year that Ford made the 4 speed before the now famous T-5 . Problem here is I don't have a shifter ! I have heard the trans as a 3 speed with o/d and it as a 4 speed . The shifter plate mounts on the top like a T-5 but a T-5 won't work . I can't find one in any catalogue or on line . Does anyone have one to sell or know where to get one or a Mustang site that I can get some help from .
It has 3 bolts to hold the shifter plate down to the trans . I heard it refered as a SROD trans that is made i Mexico .

The tag that is rivited to the housing has these letters and numbers on it ,
    RUGEM-----E2ZRAA which means it's a 1982 model ----HC11---1815--,
That is all that is on the tag !

It is a single rail over drive .
Case numbers are as follows , RF D98R ----7008 AB---C 2804194 and the last number on the case is 138280852

If anyone can help Please let me know .

    Thanks to everyone , Jim

you may have to make your own and send it out to have it chromed I have done this a few times and this way I get a shifter that fits the car I am working on.

Google davidkeetoploaders.com. If the answer isn't on his site, email him--he either has what you need or knows where to get it.

  5. A lot of the Ranger pickup manuals used a 3 bolt shifter flange. Might be worth a try, anyway.
