I am swapping out my 235 and manual transmission in my “56” 3200 pickup. I went to a 700r4 transmission which will need a case mounted shifter. I am looking to see what shifter, and length shifter, others have used and what they think of them. (Single bend, double bend, 10-16-23 inch) I have a bench seat and don’t want to lean over too much to use the shifter. I see a lot of Lokar shifters are there other good companies?
    Thanks for any help

I see American Shifter looks like Lokar but costs less. Gennie is another brand but costs more.

Just read some reviews of that company. I won’t risk it. Thanks for the heads up

I've got two cars with Lokar push ****on floor shifters and I just plain don't like them. (I didn't buy them) I recently bought a nice Model A coupe with a Gennie shifter (no push ****on just notches) and I really like it.
But what I really wish is that someone would make a new version of the good old B&M series 60 chrome box shifter, just a simple step detent shifter, no ****ons, no triggers, no ratchets and a nice flexy cable so you can put it anywhere.

Thanks for the info. Just ordered the Gennie shifter kit. Like you said but it gets great reviews and who wants to be unhappy.

American shifter is another one of those Hoffman co products. Gennie is a good product and has been around a long time.

Pretty cool truck!!! Does the truck match the house, or does the house match the truck? My younger brother has a 56 with the L-O-N-G box and wrap around rear window. We put a rebuild 283 short block in the truck after the 265 shattered a piston; had the 265 heads rebuilt and the truck ran forever with one of my Muncie 4 speeds in it. He had Hedman Hedders on it with a full length exhaust, including 36 inch long Cherry Bombs, and it was the coolest sounding truck. He lent it to his BIL for a while, and the guy wound up wrecking it. My brother kept the 283 and gave the Muncie back to me. Now all his trucks are diesel. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
