Shifter

I am helping my buddy with his 51 chevy and he has a 215 motor with the 3 on the tree. He asked me earlier if it was possible to switch to a floor shifter with the same transmission. Is it? I am new to doing this and wondered if there is a kit out there to convert or if anyone has done this.

OR. . . you can buy one at JC Whitney 3 speed for a truck (just so it will be taller) and bolt it right up.
