Do any of you guys have pics of your/or other's kustom shift knobs and shifters. What about do you guys run the extended high rise roth-esque shifter. Thanks guys.
I built this shifter for my custom norton, i took solid aluminum stock, hollowed most of it out on a lathe, and then walking through the hardware store i saw this Three way Air Hose attachment already colored translucent blue. looks cool and cheap. always make your own shit when you can, anyone can throw money at a project, but if you make everything yourself, you really make something special. keep on building!!!
I saw one today at the Mob town Grease ball. A hood ornament. The one where the girl is laying on her stomoch with her arms propping up her chin. Bolted vertically to the shifter, you grab her hiney as you push it up into second on a three speed. I thought it was different.

This is an antique lead glass door knob. I admired one in a friends car, so he dug around in his trunk for it's mate.
Here is mine in my 67 GMC. Its a HURST indy 3 speed floor conversion shift kit with a piston from a 5hp Briggs and Stratton snow blower engine. I am fabbing up a 40" shifter for it so the piston can sit atop of it
This ones kinda creepy......But I've got a ton to choose from. All I have to do is go swipe one off the floor of my Daughters room!
I never dug "cutsey" shift knobs...I like my balls round and solid! Here's the shifter I made for my Chevy...with a four speed H-pattern ball on it!
This one was a box of parts when i got it at a swap meet. Found the pool balls at the same swap meet.
Yeesh, Couldn't find a bigger tach Pigiron? I am wondering if I should get a beer tapper for a shifter or go the hard route. What's the hard route you ask, well the hard route is to find a neat shot glass and drill a hole in the bottom of it. But I don't know how easy (or difficult) it is to drill into glass. I was goind to fill the glass with a brandy colored resin and tap the threads into that so I could actually use the knob to shift. Has anyone done something like that? And speaking of resins.... How do guys like Tikiranch and Mcphail make the molds and what kind of resin do they use - is it at art supply stores? ....btw I never understood why people never put a 4-ball on their shifters when they have four speeds, and I never really put two and two together and realized that the 8-ball meant V8....DUH!!! I just thought it was used for it's "outsider" appeal (being the only black ball)....sometimes I wonder about myself.....
I have the middle finger on a tall shifter. looks right out the chopped windshield frame . Photobuckets down but will post tomorow...

Since this is on topic, anyone seen those shifter knobs that are brass I think, and it's a wolf's head with a top hat? I remember seeing it in a mag and lost it...
I just bought one ugly skull from my trip to Sweden. It was supposed to be a piggybank... Coin hole and everything... Have you already seen these too cool finnish creations? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=550567&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1

[/ QUOTE ] Just use a glass and tile bit from the hardware store. It will look like a arrowhead. Work slowly and don't force the bit.
