i think he wants to go the mild custom route. he's talking about putting in the dash out of his 59 Chevy 4 door, flakin the roof and doing some scallops or something along those lines once it's ready for paint. get some rust to chip away at first.
it's got nice tires on some nice steel wheels so i think that'll be the way it rolls for a while. he has'nt said what else he'd like to run. it is 6 lug so that limits things. he does'nt want any modern looking or billet wheels.
he does have the column from the 59 still and we had talked of putting it in but we're not sure what it will take to make the power glide column from the car shift a th350 in this truck. anyone done it??? i don't think he'd be opposed to that idea.

Gennie all the way .They're all I've ever used and they recently redid all the parts so that they work even better. I don't know why anyone uses Lokar. Why the hell would you want to have to have a lame*********on.

The 59 column may or may not be a good choice...the turn signal switch is pretty funky on those cars. Should not be a big problem to get the shifter to work with the th350 though.

is the "rattle" with Lokars common? when i bought my ranchero it already had it installed and for the most part i am pleased with it but it RATTLES like crazy? everything is tightened but still no dice! any remedy? is it the mechanism inside the handle that causes it or???

I thought the*****on would really lock the shifter in place, so thats why I gave it a try. I had a buddy with a roadster and he had two incidents where the gennie got knocked out of gear in a smaller car...combo of klutz and stupidity, but anyway I found out that Lokars get knocked out of gear just as easy because on the way to Austin one time a guy in my car was goofing around and knocked it into another gear.

Another year on the way back from Austin the Lokar kept falling into low and had to be worked on in the heat on the side of the road. That was fun...but it just needed to be tightend up.

Can't slam the Lokar too much but I like the gennie in my other car much better and recommend it.

thats pretty slick Steve. might not be a bad idea either. he's not gonna be racing the thing but he does have 2 small kids that would be riding with him from time to time.
i'm leaning towards the column shift if it's not too much work. thats up to him though.

Hopefully you'll get some responses to your question but this thread is 16 years old and @Skirv hasn't posted since 2013.
