"Shifts" just dropped off my engine/****** and Plowboys ****** at Bobbleeds shop and I'm stoked!!! I traded Dave a 1964 389 w/a (Slim Jim) auto for a 1968 455 cu.in. Olds with a "bad" turbo 400!!!! He said I could have the whole works for the price of the ****** rebuild! He told me it was a great runner and he couldn't even hear it when it was running...! And I said that I could take care of that problem!!!! At 340-390 H.P. & about 500 Ft. Lbs. of torque All I have to do is run open headers!!! He then told me that he put in a shift kit and a loose torq converter! Then he ran the ****** on his dyno and pounded the living **** out of it and it p***ed with flying colors before he gave it his seal of approval!!! Plowboy took the day off from work to get the ****** and do some "Bone Yarding" in Cheeseland...!!! Dave built him a bullet proof setup and was telling him that this will be a hard hitting ******! Then I see that I won the MFS Auction and I'm having a good day...! (Now to just sell some houses!!!) Mark
Wingnutzs i am totaly sold on those motors ! i am running 2 right now in two differnt trucks . And saving up to build a third . Real tire spinners for sure ! have fun ..
I had a 62 GMC pu with a 455 olds in it.Had a lineloc I would take off in 2nd gear and smoke the tires forever! God I had alot of fun in that old ugly pos.The one thing I did find out was dont overwind em. Had a rod go through the side of the block and cut the exhaust pipe in half. They make so much torque you dont need to wind em up anyway.OOOOO Yer gonna have some fun !!! FEDER
Sounds great Mark. I've got that same setup in Big Olds (455/400TH w/10 bolt rear) and he does smoke'em half way down the 1/4 mile. I LOVE it! I was alittle leary at first, thought it would be too much motor for me, but I was wrong. Sure would like to go head to head with you at the HAMB Drags.
I got home last night around 8 o'clock. What a long day. I did find some cool stuff to start a new project I'd like to go back up after. I need to finish the one I'm on first though! I got my but chewed for taking the day off while I was on the way up but then a couple of hours later the boss called and said that I don't need to hurry back because it was pouring down rain. Go figure, I din't bring enough clothes or cabbage to stay and go to the Jefferson swap. A big thanks to Dave on the ****** too! I am going to try and get it all put back together this weekend. We stopped by Hopperstad's (bottle) shop in Belvedere on the way home. That place is a must see for everyone. Some amazing fabrication going on there. I may put off new projects and just spend some cash on Machine tools! Check out this little jewel.
Yep, a couple. This belongs to the kid that was a "rod and custom" young gun a few months ago. This thing is toatally hand built, body and all. The top is aluminum and has hinges to allow entry. Pretty cool.
thats just wild!! I glad the post got hijacked for a minute to see that top and the rest of the fab work. On an on topic note that 455 is going to tear things up! Great score!
