Has anyone taken their hot rod to Europe? Id like to take my Model A Delivery to Portugal to drive around for 5-6 weeks and wondered what is entailed in something like this. Are there any requirements for equipment that would be different than here in California? Any ideas as to costs for shipping from California to Portugal and back? Obviously there would be special insurances and drivers licenses needed, but I've never talked with anyone that did this on their own. A few years ago one of my customers took his T along with a group and had a ball, that gave me the idea to do this and hoped that someone here may have had experience with doing this. Thanks K

I've seen US east coast cars attend Goodwood festival of speed in the UK. I'd budget $2k eack way and then you require transit insurance and insurance whilst there. Ozzies & Kiwis have taken their cars to US. A container coming this way is way is not cheap as you pay for volume. RORO is cheaper but more prone to theft & damage. My .02 worth.

I looked into shipping a car to Finland. Was about 2K for the boat ride. Was told expect 6-8 weeks for delivery. I had to get it to the dock myself. The car had to be modified to meet their safety standards but that was for a permanent license. You can get an international driving license easy, just go to AAA. My wife set up everything so I can drive her car in Finland. It was easy to do.

I shipped, sold, a MG to France last year. There was a company north of Chicago than consolidates cars and properly packs them in shipping containers. It was a one way trip, cost about $1200. Car arrived in good shape, only complain was a shipped a few mice with it.

Thanks for the info. I don't know what i was expecting but the shipping costs may outweigh the fun of driving the car in a foreign country. Thanks again. K
