I buy everything from the US and Canada, cut out the middle man down under and save $$$. Sure it costs more but that's the price I have to pay to build my car. Then there is the exchange rate to consider. Historically not bad for you guys, try living here and dealing with fluctuating currency rates; current rate of $AUD1.00 buys $USD1.06. The best rate for years, I remember buying parts at $AUD0.66, that was an expensive period .

The world is now a smaller place. Often cheaper to have things shipped here from OS than ship locally. USPS with tracking is preferred, FEDEX and UPS are exorbitant ex USA. DHL isn't bad sometimes. I always ask if seller ships international, even he doesn't state that, knowing that I bear the additional cost.

Canada although another country is right next to the USA, we are near no one at the other [Arse] end of the world. :D

I ship all over the world using USPS and use the shipping calculator on their website. If the price doesnt look right I box the item then go the post office and get the exact shipping costs. Most go first class.

As a fellow Canadian I agree with Steve.
As a Canadian the biggest problem with shipping from the US is UPS charging us $40 for collecting any duty & taxes for the Government.

  7. I would bet the government doesn't get a dime of it. I told UPS to pound salt one time due to an "extra" bill for around $35.00. I never heard from them or the government. The "P" stands for piracy....

If a vendor insists on shipping UPS, I find a different vendor.

3 words- FLAT RATE BOXES!!! They ship up to 70 lbs, and ship internationally as well (for a bit more) but still cheaper than what the op stated to ship to Canada, and they ship priority mail. If you can not use a flat rate box due to size, package it in your box of choice & ship it "cheapest way possible" which is what YOU have to tell them when you go to the counter at the USPS.They have just recently (past 8 months or so)raised the cost of shipping considerably due to fuel cost and such. Point is, you might need to do a little research prior to shipping internationally to make sure it can still be a profitable sale.

  10. Usps lets you ship items up to 4 Lbs. first class outside the USA we ship a ton of parts overseas and in most cases shipping on light items is not overly expensive, but heavy items to Europe, central America and Australia is a little pricey. We do a lot of biz. overseas and find with the Weak dollar and strong Euro they are willing to pay the postage to get our products.............

foreign shipping --- under 4 pounds can send FIRST CLASS, use small customs form.
If using the SMALL flat rate box you can also use the small customs form.
    You cannot insure these.

If sending regular priority (your box, or regular flat rate box etc) you must use the large customs form.
Regular priority includes some insurance to most countries, and you can add more if you want.

Want to know what shipping is to a country, use usps.com ....

If I have something over 4 pounds that needs a box about the size of the regular (medium) flat rate box, I always check usps.com ... sometimes shipping in your own box is cheaper than using the medium flat rate box.
