I did a search and found nothing about shipping them. So What is the best and cheapest way to ship wheels & Tires back east? I have heard people mention greyhound bus? is it reasonably priced? does this work good and does the wheels/ tires get there safe and sound with no hassles? Or do you just get ahold of UPS and ship that way, if so how much for a set of 4 w/tires Thanx, xtra
Usp Will Rape You On Shipping Wheels And Tires, like The Commercial Go Greyhound.they Put Your Shit In The Cargo Area Of The Bus,then You Go To You Local Greyhound Bus Depot,to Pick Up Or Drop Off,real Easy
I have sent wheels and tires to the Mid West from NorCal and may do it again as I have some ZQ8 rims/tires on XXXY. I had some banding material (plastic), put two wheels and tires together, put cardboard over the face of the first wheel, put that wheel over the other and banded them together (less any air)...........they pumped them up a little to hold the banding solid (I put thick cardboard over the places the banding material touched the wheels...............sent them FedEx Ground for about $50 per each two wheels and tires.............they made in great shape and I even insured them for the replacement cost. FedEx is a little more expensive now, but still much cheaper than UPS. If the wheels are in boxes and seperate from the tires it will cost you a pretty penny.................$250 for boxed wheels and loose tires sounds about right.
I shipped some tires through UPS and it was actualy cheaper to box them than unboxed. They said something about they can just throw them on the loading line vs. hand carrying them to the truck.
EXCATLLY! i found that out the hard way a few weeks ago... i shipped some very heavy rims and tires boxed up for 26 bucks a box through UPS,,, then a week later shippied some front runner light weight drag wheels and tires through UPS UNBOXED for $33.00 each...(it would have been the same if not more banded together) i have shipped greyhound in the past and it was not any cheaper and more inconvienent...
If you have a Forward Air near you at a Airport and the buyer has one near him they are really cheap to ship large heavy items through, only thing is it has to put on a pallet or crated up.
When you band em together and exceed around 35 lbs (?) they become heavy cargo, with a hefty surcharge.
I shipped a set of steel rims to Virginia. I packaged them 2 in a package and just wrapped them in cardboard to make a box. Cost me $60 by UPS.
i just used fedex to ship 4 rims w/ tires. shipped them as four individual packages. was slightly under $200 bucks. -scott noteboom
i priced shipping a anglia body thru them ....on my skid , they were 32 bucks per hundred pounds...that was last summer ...but it couldn't have gone up that much ... brandon
