That wasn't too shitty of a day. At least your or the kid didn't get hurt and the car not damaged. And the fact that a youngun stopped to help gives us some hope for humanity.

My question is...how safe is it to use a bottle jack? I'd be very nervous using that. I guess if its all you got then use it.

Gotta be better than the bumper jacks that were used for a long time.

I was really looking forward to going to the Monroe MI swapmeet this weekend, but the wife's car needed an $80 part which led to another $50 part which led to another $60 part which means I'll be spending the weekend burping the coolant system of this stupid little car....that and I have to pay the mortgage. :(

  5. I bet the high school kid is telling a different version of the story, how he had to help this helpless guy that couldn't even use his jack to change a tire, then the guy gets all dirty doing the tire this way instead of just doing it like this. Hahaha

  6. I ran double eagles in my 50 vert with the bored 270 jimmy, dual Stromberg's with a 3/4 race cam, split Clark headers, large Lincoln intake valves. body was emerald green\white top with the 54 cream rear fender stripe, nosed & decked. I had a continental on the rear & my traction was like stink on sheeet, that babby had grip tighter than the cheeks of my azz on the seat when the pilot sez "FOLKS WE HAVE A SLIGHT PROBLEM & ARE GOING TO GO AROUND AGAIN "& NUNS ARE WORKIN THEM BEADS SO HARD THEY ARE STARTIN TO SMOKE.

    I thought of that, too.

"Yeah, I guess the old guy doesn't know much about cars.
Sure was havin' a blood rush.
    Killed his jack.
    He liked my ride."

    “Firestone coffee blows too…”

    I like my coffee black….
I feel sorry for the the ones who have to have creamer.
Every Firestone / Goodyear tire shops all have that little Styrofoam cup with the wood stir sticks and little packets of powdered creamer.
    Oh isn’t that tasty…..
That shit will gag a maggot.

My man, I wouldn’t have a clue what to do in a Starbucks. Even if they sell black coffee, would most likely be more than I was willing to pay.

I always support local coffee shops, not chains. And, why can't Starbucks call Large a Large? On the other hand, our favorite local pizza shop has Small, Large and Extra-Large pizzas. Interesting, but I don't know why.

Small, medium and large is how I grew up. Then a place had a “giant”. Then…never mind. Ryan’s gonna lock his own thread soon;)

    Focus. I'm trying. I'm old.

As soon as I saw it, I was pretty sure that Chevy was built decades ago.
    How did I know?
    The black and white photo?
    The overall look?
    Yes... partly.

    But...

Not many appreciate nicely frenched headlights anymore. Not sure why. Maybe because it's a simple, subtle, non flamboyant look. But a lot of work to attain.

Seems more often than not these days, I see tunneled headlights. Or the treatment with those giant modern concave bezels which didn't exist and were never used in the decades of our interest.

    I must say.
We might be missing the main story here. Ryan's little one, having to listen to Dad be mad, late for school, doesn't drink Firestone coffee...
    What a trooper.

    Focus...

  15. Harbor Freight has a low aluminum jack that might work and it's around $120 That and a little bottle jack should do it.
Another trick is drive up a driveway entrance so your car is up on the curb and the floor jack will fit.
