Hello, When my brother got his new 1958 Impala, it was his now, fast hot rod sedan. It ran in the A/Stock Car class at Lion's Dragstrip. My contribution was to make sure the Impala was clean and shiny. Then, I got the job of engine/car maintenance guy. So, oil change, filters, oil+ air, spark plugs, wipe of any excess daily dust and keep it shiny. Only because I had no transportation, other than tennis shoes on the feet, a bicycle or the bus. If I wanted to go to a basketball practice, I got driven there in a nice, shiny 58 Impala. I was also given the job of driving the Impala to the gas station a couple of blocks away to get gas. So, early on, I learned where the filler was and the design was good. The gas never sloshed out, even after a full tank fill up. And, the out of the way location never interrupted the overall side design of the Impala with a flip out door. It was located just high enough not to leak in any way. The license plate versions on other brands were nice and hidden, too, but too low and then caused problems for the owners. Thanks, again... @themoose Jnaki All of that early work paid off as I got to race the Impala at 15, became the dragstrip film maker, and then as things go, I was the owner in late 1960 and early 1961. I became the main daily driver. So, 8 years later, I sold the black 58 Impala and my flathead 40 Ford Sedan Delivery to fund my college studies. YRMV
Here's a bit of my history. Always hated TV watching. After out-growing Uncle's station, I had found my self PT eves & Wknds Pumping gas. My haunt was a very busy corner on US route 1. One Friday evening, this 'high roller' comes in and yells,,, "Run it on the ground!! I'm going to Miami!"
