Will a 1951 custom O D trans be modified to fit in a 1950 custom, about the only difference that a can tell is the tail shaft fixed trans mount is about 1" closer forward, I got a great deal for this rebuilt trans but found out its for a 51, also I am replacing it with a worn out standard 3 speed.
Any help on this would be appreciated

The rear mount location seems to be the only difference. OD housing/tailshaft is '51 Ford & Merc only using MoToR's flat rate as ref.

Slight difference in the location and bolt hole spread between the two rear housings. There’s also a slight difference in the shifter housings.....subtle difference in the boss for the clutch release bracket AND the different shapes with the shifter levers.

You can adapt the rear support to your car. The shifter housing difference warrants changing the housings. As long as both are overdrive transmissions you can swap them as complete units. Just make sure you get the forks properly engaged in the gears.
