How about hardtopped with slanted B pillars? My '49 will have the illusion of slanted B pillars created by the window frames. Best of both worlds?

i like slanted on a shoebox just where the B-pillar lines back up to match the offset of the roof being slid forward.

This. I think more of the time, however, I like a mild slant. That red hardtop posted earlier is the best.

I'm thinking maybe no post is the way to go.

I agree with it depends on the chop. I think less chop tends to look better with straight, heavier chop better with slanted. I ended up going slanted on my shoebox it's about a 5/7 chop

I wanted my rear windows to be operable.

I also like slanted but prefer straight.

I prefer slanted, but that because I got some oriental blood.

So this looks to be a coupe to begin with? I really like this job, makes me want to hack into mine. Do you have any more pictures at different angles?

slanted is very tradional. look at the first 2 chopped 1949 mercurys. one had straight and one was slanted. both were built in different garages. it all goes to what you feel looks right for you. just look at a lot of different one and figure out where your going to go from there.

The first time you bang your head on a slanted B pillar you'd wish to cut them straight
