I got the motor done over the summer on my 50 shoebox now it is time to start on the body. I am a body man but doing collision work and doing resto work is much deffrent. The ford needs rockers, front floor pan, trunk floor pan, and the lower quarter panels both sides. What would you do first? Also the truck floor seems to bolted to the quarters and the part that is on the quarters is all rusted. Is this part called the quarter brace? I have seen this part online at mac's auto parts but there is no pic so i dont know if this is what i need. Any help would be nice thanks.
I had to replace a similar amount of metal in mine. I braced the doors, across the body at the a and b-pillar with 1" square tube and went to town.. I cut the rockers, rotten floor areas and quarters all at once. then I could line up the new parts. then I did the floor. of course I had rotty braces in the front too. so I did those first off. it worked out well. I'm pretty happy with my gaps and the doors swing real nice. only thing i would do different would be to replace the whole floor, rather than patch the areas outside the frame rails like I did on my car..... can't help you on the trunk tho. mine was solid as a rock!
