Has anyone ever tried these on their Shoebox? If so how much of a pain is it trying to find the real estate do the exhaust pipe? I’m thinking about getting these if the consensus is good.

I think from your other posts on your 50 that you have the original steering box. That would be the only potential probem. Clearance. But, if the reds are made for the 49-51 they should clear.

Wish I took some pics when mine had the flathead in it with similar headers - the drivers side exhaust routing was a mess - between the brake master and pedal, clutch linkage (z-bar, return spring), parking brake etc. - it is tight - mine crossed over to the p*** side somewhere under the trans, and then back to the drivers side to exit out the rear....not to mention there is no "hole" in the crossmember on the drivers side (mine were run alongside the "kickup" in the crossmember) I'm sure it can be done "right" ,or at least better, given enough time and forethought - but with my sbc swap using the stock trans and linkage I opted for single exhaust and happy I did - so much cleaner and easy to service - it still has a nice burble with a turbo muffler

I have had a set of original Fenton's on my '51 since 1987 (no, they're not supposed to fit). No problems ever. They were installed at a fully equipped Midas shop owned by a friend. Skilled professionals can make just about anything fit.

Reds headers fit fantastic if you can get a set.
I haven't seen anything on them lately but he got distracted from tending to business the way he should a couple of years back when he got married and seemed to forget that he had a business to run for a while. Saying that because at the same time people were fussing about not being able to get ahold of them his wedding photos came out on FB.

I guess I’ll call him tomorrow and see what is going on and if I can get a set. I know these will not fit my woodie or my convertible which is okay just as long as they work for the sedan

Found these pics - one on the trailer when we dragged it out of storage and one of the pipe hacked off, yes, the suspension and undercarriage has been cleaned up since - doesn't quite show how they dealt with the main clearance issues, but gives you an idea -

I had a set of Red's headers on my 50 Ford and my 53 Merc and they fit great no problems at all. I did copy the flange where the header bolts to the block and welded them to the header so I could bolt the exhaust on, used a stock gasket between the flanges was never a big fan of exhaust welded where you couldn't take it apart.

Yeah I never understood why people would do that. I’m figuring that they were never hard on their motors and never had to swap them out on a regular basis. :D

Has anyone ordered a set of headers from Red’s lately?? I ordered the ones for my shoebox and haven’t heard anything about shipping or anything. There’s no way of contacting them unless you have social media, no phone, no address, nothing. They have a messaging system that I don’t think they even check, what kinda **** is this?!?!? Anybody know how to contact the guy???

If you Google reds headers there's indeed a phone number in the Google results. I won't post it here since that's bad juju. If you can't find it lemme know and I'll message it to you.

I just got off the phone with him and he said that it would be later this week when they ship. Apparently he makes them as the orders come in and there are a couple of sets ahead of me then I’ll get mine. You know it would be easier for everybody if he said that they were made to order and not necessarily kept in stock and that there would be a wait involved.
