Couple questions about the rear gravel pan on my '50 Shoebox. First, it's relatively flimsy - any reason that welding a bit of reinforcement underneath (some thin flat stock) to give it some rigidity would be a bad or unnecessary idea? Second, has anyone welded their gravel pan to the tail pan & quarter panels to give it a permanent fix rather than bolting it on separately? Any negatives there?
I think I would use metal bonding adhesive instead of welding strips, welding will cause more body work. I would not weld the pan on the body, it's nice to finish parts individually.
