after a week of thinking, i figured out how the back of the car is gonna come together...i needed to widen the roof and deck area and figure out how to make it flow into the quarters,,,it took some real figuring,,but i am happy with what i came up with,,,its just tacked at this point,,and i need to lenghten the trunk a bit,,but all in all,,it worked out pretty well...the bumpers will be made into bumperettes,,they will wrap around into the rear pan,,,i need to get more welding gas this week,,and then it'll be WELD, WELD, WELD....

yeah...maybe 5 minutes,,,,,

the quarters roll right into the deck because of the way i tapered them,,,no filler pieces needed,,,,i thought id have to fab up some rolls,,,but turns out i wont need them,,,

So you're not going to use the shoebox rear window glass? What are you going to use to fill the widened rear window hole? Or am I missing something?

the window opening is the original metal from the shoebox,,its chopped around 2 1/2 and stretched approx 4 1/2 in width,,,,,,,,,i have two options for glass,,,,one is lexan,,,the other is an interesting idea i saw on a hamb tech thread,,should be pretty easy to do,,find a windshield with the same curve as the rear glass,,use the rear glass as a template and move it around the windshield until the curves match,,then trim away the glass i dont need,,,,one other option would be to cut the frame out and weld it back together in the stock width and graft it to the roof and use filler pieces around it,,,i think it looks good wide like that,,so it'll most likely stay as it is,,,

Looks great. Can´t wait to see it get welded up!

Just one thing - I´m looking at the way the rear catwalk now rolls down into the rear quarters and it seems somewhat undefined - like the shape of the rear fenders needs to be extended more towards the roof, so it doesn´t just roll straight from the side of the car into the top. Or simply a piece of chrome to divide the two panels. Am I making any sense here??

I was thinking the same thing it's almost like the top just keeps going straight down into the quarter panetl. Tough to see in the pictures but that was my first thought when I saw them as well.

Excellent work and wicked imagination but I have a feeling when it's all done that when people look at it the first thing that comes to mind will be "Why?".

Sorry...just my opinion.

Hope not to offend but make that three who are wondering what your plans are for the rear quarters.

this car is crazy bad ass , the back end looks kick ass , whos gona paint this car when its done ? this car rules i love it

25. I really dig what you are doing here!
I just have one comment though. I was looking at the flow of it all,　and was trying to figure out what I didnt like about the profile and kept on looking at the rear quaters, but its not the rear quaters its the bonnet, It totally goes the wrong way, it needs to be dropped where it meets the screen, I think it upsets the whole thing.
But thats just my opinion, and what the f do i know :)
Outstanding job by the way, and love the rear shot.

true about the hood,,,instead of lowering the rear part..i may raise the front a tad,,,
have to see how it looks,,,it does slope too much as it is now..
