This thing is beautiful. I congratulate you not only on your skill, but your willingness to follow your own path, follow YOUR vision.

I must admit that many times, customs appear to rip the soul out of the vehicle and replace it with a mundane over-smooth appearance. (Think typical pastel late 80's early 90's) Yours though appears to replace that soul with a new and exciting vision of its former self.

I like it! Keep up the awesome updates please!!

color will be something light i think,,,,,here are the possibilities im kicking around:
pearl off-white,,,,,platinum pearl with a slight green tint to it, platinum pearl with a slight blue tint to it,,,theres a cool 50s oldsmobile color,,sort of a frosty looking lavender metallic,,hard to describe,,but a cool color...........there will be gold expanded metal accents behind the headlights, behind the taillights, possibly in the cove area,,

Where have I been the last couple of days?????

This is 100% pure Kustom porn. I started with page one
and went through the whole 19 pages and loved every
minute of it.

Yes Jim, you have lost your mind!! But that is a good thing. You
have a lot of talent and to do something out of the norm and posting
the progress as you go is proof that you've lost it.

When I read Luke’s post talking about the other versions of the car I
could not believe the changes the Shoebox has gone through. The latest
"Kustoms Illustrated" article was killer and I was wondering where you were
going to go with the project. I never imagined that this would be direction.

Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next 19 pages of updates.

Happy Trails,

Mick

Yesir - that's workin for me

So what's the plans on the roof as far as the surface finish - all paint, part paint part upholstered, part stainless or chrome?

all of the above,,,,,hahaha,,,
really dont know yet,,ive kicked around all of those possibilities,,,
im leaning towards a rolled and pleated roof section (the short section that is mocked up),,sorta like the kopper kart,,,,and the section over the driver/passenger will be either lexan or a removable painted panel (most likely done in the same color as the car)...

Here's a (fairly lame)attempt at helping visualize the center lift-off part in lexan.

wow!!!!!!!!!
that must have taken you an amazing amount of time to do,,,
it looks great,,
when i was setting that piece on the trunk, i actually wondered how it might look if the glass came all the way back like you did,,,now i dont have to wonder,,,,
thanks again,,it looks really cool..if i did end up going with something like that, i suppose i'd have to make a buck and have some lexan formed to fit,,,,,hmmmm

Jim -- Here is an interesting observation on thread #316 -- I posted
2 pictures in thumb nail size with different size rear bubble tops. The
small bubble was opened only 39 times; but, the larger one was opened
586 times. It seems to be favored by most viewers that the larger
bubble top would be preferred. So Cleatus great last photoshop as
a finished product would be an excellent finished custom.

It sure would be tough to come up with the right piece for that rear bubble. I was actually wondering if plowboy would give up his secret source for soviet space bubbles and start with something like that and heat if enough to allow it to spread outwards, flatter and then trim at an angle or something. You would probably still need to build a buck to control it. But by then maybe it's easier to just start with a flat piece. Who knows?...I sure don't. I was just having fun doodling it while talking to my wife on the phone.

24. I couldn´t wait any longer to see some shine on this thing! Is this the colour you were thinking of? I like this back window better than the bubble idea.

do you guys like the new trunk area piece?...i honestly cant decide if i like it or not..it seems to be missing something,,maybe it needs a peak,,possibly continuing down to the back of the deck area,,dont know,,or possibly a subtle scoop with teeth,,,,or maybe an angled antenna in a 53 buick porthole...or something??????????,,,,just know its not quite right yet......dont want it to be too busy looking back there,,,,but something's just not clicking yet,,,,,,,,,

or did it look better without that piece altogether??
