Try visiting www.shoeboxford.com. Lots of good info and friendly help available. The hosts of the site sell almost everything you might need for 49-51 boxes and have a good reputation for service. Nobody will laugh at your car because it is a real nice one to start your project with. Good luck.

Got the nose finished and took a wire wheel and few days to clean it up a bit, and added some krylon for effect!

Fordnutz, I hope you ruined the scene by removing the shoebox from its resting place. Also thanks for the new wallpaper.

  17. Hope I'm not cheating, but this Crestliner belongs to a close friend of mine from South Florida. Saw the thread and had to post some pics. He did such a nice job, he thinks it's too good for him to keep. May be available in the near future if anyone is interested. PM me. Car is rock solid!! Amazing for a Florida car. Guess Ford really hit a home run with this body style.

49-51 fords were and are knowing as "shoeboxes". Somehow, somewhere chevys picked it up. From a magizen or what, who knows? Anyone? But my Granddad says that " They called them fords shoeboxes back in my day cuz they look like a lil' shoebox"

Lemme ask you guys something, we have a 55 belair, under a perpetual construction, at the rear right of the frame, it looks like its kinda tweaked up a bit, on flat ground you can kinda see it, there is no obvious damage to the frame, but it was a raced in the 70's and 80's the guy said, with a stick, think this is something to be concerned with or nah? I already have it painted and all that ready to go back in, I jus dont wanna put it back in if its tweaked somewhere...I shoulda looked closer before I put all the labor in cleaning and painting it I know

When you see 18 Pages of posts related to 49 to 51 Ford, why would anyone think that all of a sudden that this is a Chevy Thread

Buddy Holly did the same in the owners club thread too. FNG w/ 10 posts. I clicked to see of someone was adding something of substance, and we are just rehashing the same stuff from 13-14 pages ago. I guess this is what happens when they type before reading.

1961CaddilacHearse, why dont you take some pics of your question so someone understands WTF you're talkin about and post it in your own thread. You might get someone to actually answer you.

EXK do you have any more shots of the frame that you could share? Would actually like to see more of the build period. Nice looking car.
