What an unfortunate situation, Mother Nature can be a bitch sometimes. I hope that gets resolved quickly and to your satisfaction.

Bright side (if there’s one) the house is intact.
    Sorry for the misfortune.

I hate to hear about that but I’m waiting for the pecan tree next door to break off or whatever and then it will be in my garage. I’ve talked to the guy about it and he doesn’t seem too worried that it might happen. It already hangs into my yard for about 12 to 15 feet and already has a funky lean to it. I have half a mind to go cut it off while he’s at work and tell him a heard of chipmunks went crazy and ate the limbs off

worst is if it rains heavy , heavy winds, then tree gets uprooted and anything int he fall zone will be damaged.....have a talk with him agaon and at least split the cost ..Not expensive to remove said branch....Just my 2cents...

Most places allow you to trim branches that overhang your property as long as you do not trespass.

Bad part about it it’s dang near half of the tree and it’s got some GOOD pecans that fall in my yard every year.

  14. I guess it depends on how much you think pecans are worth....

Go tell him either he takes care of it or you do. And he may not like it if you do it!

For that tree, you’d need some type of extendable boom thing. Pick it apart, etc.

That would be way higher in the air I’d want to be. Would take some tree place I’d think.
My back neighbors tree fell over into my ditch (end of the field) city said I was responsible for clean up, not them.
But I didn’t ask about damages had they occurred, but check locally and see if the neighbors have and responsibility.

I’m just now getting to that point. One of my buddies works for code enforcement and he said I could do the NATO no fly zone over my property and cut the overhang but it would make the tree ugly as all get out and unbalanced. He is new to the neighborhood and I’d like to keep the piece but I don’t want to have my garage and woody destroyed along with all the stuff that I have in there.

  18. This is also a good time to remind that project cars are generally not covered by your homeowners insurance so if they are not insured separately they will not be covered. Check your policies.

Yeah tell me about it, I have State Farm and everything is ala cart and homeowners insurance doesn’t cover cars in the garage. That’s why I have full coverage on all of my cars just incase.

I'd be asking the neighbour if HE has insurance to cover the damage to your property if the tree falls onto your place.

Don’t work like that in the states. If it falls on your junk it’s your problem. An act of God.

Damn man so sorry. I suffered real bad wind damage years back, 24 ft boat,& trailer, fences, trees, roof, patio huge cost clean up, never forget it. I cringe when hearing and seeing it on the news and the suffering it causes the nations people I once while in the AirForce was deployed to small town in Kansas to help clean up after a tornado where there was a death also. Devastating dose not even begin to describe what wind can do in seconds.

    lostin51 ,
Its over your property line. You can trim anything hanging over your property line, perfectly legal.
Hire a Tree service and cut it at your property line anything hanging over the line.

I his branch break and damages your house He is not liable and you're screwed. You need to cut that tree off at your property line

I don't know about Tennessee but in Nebraska you can cut off the limb that is overhanging your property when it endangers your property! May be something you want to check into.

Man I’m so sorry to see and hear this . My house and garage have 100 + year old white oaks surrounding them . I took four out near the garage a few years ago . Constant argument with my wife about “ how beautiful the trees are “ ! They are beautiful but we all have space we need , don’t invade my personal space with tree issues . My daughter just had a neighbors fall and do over 40 K damage to her house . Neighbor says “ sorry I’m not liable for damage , it’s all on you “ ! Trees don’t belong anywhere near where they can fall and damage , anything .
