I wear my Tillman heavy welding gloves whenever i'm welding/working with metal. I'll put on rubber gloves for paint and solvents, but usually not for oily/greasy stuff.
mason gloves are pretty nice for fab work too, they are tight fitting and rubber coated so you get a decent grip on things. pretty tuff, and cheap. the downside, they make your hands stink.
I wear gloves in the shop, pretty much all the time. I buy rejects from the "glove guy" at the local swap meets.I usually pay 5 or 6 dollars for a dozen pairs. When they get greasy I just throw them away and dig out another pair. I am a mechanic actually a "front end man" and I have saved enough in band aids and trips to the emergency room to pay for a lifetime supply of gloves.Once you get used to wearing them, you feel sort of naked without them.
Lots of years of thinners, gas, grease, cuts... yup. Gloves. I don't care what others think. Tired of cracking and bleeding from the chemicals that soaked in. Plus I don't look like a grease-monkey when I'm out to my country club. KIDDING! Ear and eye protection works too. I don't have much of anything left so I want to keep what I have. Amazingly, I'm not invincible anymore. My signature should say it all. That was one saying that my dad had.
I have a pile of gloves, and I don't wear any of them. I've tried over and over, but 5 minutes into a job I throw the gloves across the room. I just can't stand not having the dexterity needed. Gloves get in my way. Embar***ed to admit it, but I don't even wear them when I weld.
You might try some of the gloves mentioned here. I have zero problem with dexterity when wearing the right glove for the job. I would think as a graphics designer you wouldn't be very happy if you banged up your hands.
I try to but when I am doing most stuff, I just go in and do it without gloves. My hands on the other hand are purple and black right now from painting .... LOL
