Do you guys know if there is a place I can download shop manuals from? I'm looking for the chassis and body manual for my '61 Cadillac. I wanted to see if you guys knew any tricks before I shell out $60 for a CD copy. Thanks....
If you're going to be doing some serious work, might as well just get the whole kit and kaboodle for future reference. Any reason you're choosing a CD...? You could get the whole shop manual, in paper, for the same price: http://www.caddydaddy.com/MANUALS-amp-LITERATURE/Shop-Manuals/1961-Cadillac-Shop-Manual-p3265.html I bought the '59 and '60 supplement for my '60, and it's been worth it. Fast shipping too, you won't be disappointed. They can be pretty invaluable at times...and beats spinning up a CD and looking on a computer screen when you're trying to figure something out under the hood. Unless of course you're gonna use a laptop...but...that could get messy.
I agree with D-Day... nothing at all like the convenience of having a real paper manual in your hands. You can look stuff up quickly and easily, and take it with you anywhere in the shop. True, you can print off the pages you need, but ink smears, etc. Also, I've frequently just sat in the living room looking up particular things while watching TV. It's just a lot more convenient to grab the book and flip through it real quick to see something, than load up a CD and then scroll through pages. I don't care what anyone says, you can't scroll through pages and digest them to see if they have the info you need, as you can flip through a book's pages and find info. -Brad
Not a service manual, but you might still find some useful info in this Cadillac Dealer Data Book. http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heritage-archive/docs/Cadillac/1960_Cadillac_VVI.pdf Best of all, it's FREE! Courtesy of the GM Heritage Center. http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits.html Whoops... Wrong year. Don't see one listed for a '61 model yet.
glad to hear you got the paper one. i like to make notes in them as well. that way i don't have to relearn somthin' i already lurn'd. i've had to do that a few times.
