Does anyone know if NGK make a shorty type spark plug to suit SBCs, I have some headers that run close to the third cylinder on each bank. I need to use short insulator type plugs to get ignition lead to header clearance. I have only ever seen one set of these plugs in 10yrs and they were ACCEL brand, would get some but no one stocks them here in New Zealand, we only get brands like NGK, Champion and Bosch. Any help appreciated thanks....
Bosch platinum plugs for the SBC are as short as the High price Accel shorties but a much better plug and less expensive. They are part number # 4236.
Some guys over here in the colonies used 2 stroke plugs from outboards and chain saws , much shorter than a standard plug , however the heat range may be a challenge .
Thank for the help guys, cough**customers '70 Camaro**cough, wont be burnin' leads any more.....and the lawns will be short again....
Gota love the HAMB! Just ran into this problem on mine, but the shorty accels wouldn't help enough. From left to right AC r45s Accel 574s 1/2" shorter (I know tapered seat, the amazon discription was wrong) Autolite 2974 1" shorter, with just enough shoulder under the hex to reach out of the counterbore in the head And a random champion out of my weed wacker
Buy the covers that go over your plugs.do wonders.Since i have gotten older/less tolerant. When i buy headers i pay close attention to where the tube/plug come together
Years ago I purchased what was called RAJA ends. Only good on solid core wire though. They also had good clearance on angle plug heads. maybe all you need is one. On a added note solid core wire gives your car radio fits.. Bobby
